In response to the pressing challenges posed by climate change, Investment Agriculture Foundation (IAF) has launched the Agriculture Water Infrastructure Program. This initiative is funded by the Government of British Columbia through the Ministry of Agriculture and Food.

The Agriculture Water Infrastructure Program is an eight-year, $43.2 million initiative designed to enhance stream flows, support fish populations, and increase sustainable food production. By addressing water management and infrastructure needs, the program aims to build resilience against the impacts of climate change.

The program offers funding through four streams, each tailored to address specific needs within the agricultural and water management sectors.

Stream 1: Producer Projects

  • Details will be available soon.

Stream 2: Community Projects

  • Details will be available soon.

Stream 3: Assessments, Engineering Studies, or Plans

  • This stream is crucial for laying the groundwork for effective infrastructure projects.
  • It will fund:
    • Water Supply Assessments or Feasibility Studies: Understanding the availability and sustainability of water resources.
    • Engineering Studies or Plans: Developing detailed plans to address water infrastructure needs.
    • Dam Engineering Assessments and Safety Reviews: Ensuring the structural integrity and safety of dam infrastructure.
    • Dam Emergency Plans: Preparing for potential dam-related emergencies.
    • Other Professional Consultative Services: As required under the Dam Safety Regulation (DSR).
    • Drainage Master Plans and Dike Engineering Studies or Design Plans: Developing comprehensive plans for effective water drainage and flood prevention.

There will be a webinar with more detailed information on stream 3 of the program on May 30, 2024 at 12:00 pm. You can register here.
