Come join the 31st annual Ladysmith Light Up celebration! From the last Thursday in November until the second Sunday in January, Ladysmith is ignited with the life of thousands of twinkling Christmas lights.
Since 1987, each year, over 1,000 volunteer hours are put into setting up the festive decorations and 200,000 sparkling lights. The Town of Ladysmith, services clubs like the Rotary Club and Eagles, Kinsmen Club and many other organizations and downtown merchants have been major supporters of the Festival of Lights, helping make Ladysmith the “Light Up Capital of Vancouver Island.”
For the residents of Ladysmith the Festival of Lights is a celebration of the spirit of the town and the coming of happy holidays and Christmas. For local businesses, the event is an important driver of economic development, attracting an estimated 30,000 visitors annually.
The Ladysmith Kinsmen Light Up Parade kicks off the 2018 Festival of Lights on Thursday, November 29. This fun filled event starts at 3 pm with a Community Spaghetti Dinner and Christmas Craft Fair. Starting at 4 pm there will be street and stage entertainment for the entire family as well as food concessions. And the excitement builds as Santa arrives downtown at 6:30 pm to LIGHT UP LADYSMITH!
The fun continues with the highly anticipated Kinsmen Parade which begins at 6:45 pm with themed floats covered in Christmas lights working their way down First Avenue to Aggie Hall. After the night parade it’s on to Aggie Hall to light the Christmas Tree and be showered with SPECTACULAR FIREWORKS!!
