Young Agrarians are hosting a Land Linking Workshop on November 18, 2023, from 1-5 p.m. at The Hub at Cowichan Station. The purpose of the workshop is to teach about the nuts and bolts of land access. Through the B.C Land Matching Program, Young Agrarians offers support to farmers looking for land for their farm business and landholders looking for farmers to farm their land.
The workshop will bring together landholders and farmers to network, explore possible land matches, and learn how to navigate land sharing and lease agreements. Attendees will learn the basics around farm business planning and development and have the opportunity to practice skills-building in negotiation and communication to support the success of land sharing relationships.
B.C Land Matching Program Manager Darcy Smith and Vancouver Island & Gulf Islands Land Matcher Kiyomi Ito will be at the workshop to share key questions, legal considerations, and the foundations for building and maintaining stable land agreements that are mutually beneficial. Young Agrarians is excited to land link with folks from across Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands. Farmers and farmers-to-be of all types are welcome, whether you grow veggies, raise livestock (or bees!), or have some other farming project in mind.
