Get your white outfit ready! On August 12, 2018 Cittaslow will be hosting their 7th annual Dinner in White. The much anticipated event will be taking place in Hecate Park, Cowichan Bay starting at 4:30p.m.
The dinner will be potluck style and everyone is asked to bring a shared dish that is made from locally sourced food to share with guests. Beverages will not be provided so guests are encouraged to bring their own drinks, including wine.
During the event a special announcement will be made to introduce the finalists for the Brock McCloud Best Farm Practices Award. The Brock McCloud award is one of Cittaslow’s new annual awards that will recognize a local farmer that is incorporating sustainable practices and embracing Cittaslow principles.
The event is free although donations to Cittaslow are appreciated! This is a fun opportunity to come together to celebrate local food and drinks while promoting an awareness around conscious living.

Another Cittaslow activity taking shape is the “Three Things” Initiative.
Economic Development Cowichan is collaborating with Cittaslow on the “Three Things” initiative that is encouraging businesses in Cowichan to do three things to help the local environment. The three things could potentially include:
- Not using plastic or disposable packaging in their stores
- Replacing lightbulbs with LED lighting
- Diverting waste from the landfill
The Three Things initiative is intended to get the business community thinking about ways they can reduce their environmental impact and to create benefits for the community as a whole.
