In the Cowichan region, where agriculture, small business, and manufacturing are at the heart of the local economy, digital marketing skills are more important than ever. The Digital Marketing Skills Canada (DMSC) program is a fully funded opportunity designed to help professionals, entrepreneurs, and employers build digital capacity at no cost.
Funded by Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada through the Upskill Canada initiative, DMSC offers flexible online training programs tailored to different career stages. It’s ideal for those working in agri-tech, food processing, clean technology, and other innovation-related sectors across Cowichan.
There are three learning pathways. Early-career professionals and business owners can apply for Jelly Academy’s 10-week Bootcamp, which covers SEO, social media, email marketing, Google Ads, and more. Mid-career marketers can join Growclass, a six-week course focused on customer psychology, data-driven marketing, and growth strategy. Senior professionals may be eligible for the Chartered Marketer designation through a seven-week course offered by the Canadian Marketing Association.
The program is delivered online and can be completed on your own schedule, making it accessible for Cowichan residents balancing work, business, and family. Participants also gain access to career coaching, a national network of marketing professionals, and in some cases, a full year of CMA membership.
Graduates of the program have reported increased confidence, improved campaign results, and greater impact for their organizations. DMSC also supports broader economic development in Cowichan by helping businesses grow sustainably and connect with new audiences through effective digital strategies.
