This year’s Islands Agriculture Show will explore food hubs, the cannabis industry, agritourism, and other exciting topics under the theme of “Thriving in a Climate of Change”. The event will take place at the Cowichan Exhibition Park on July 6 and 7, 2022.
The Islands Agriculture Show is the only agricultural trade show serving the farm and food community on Vancouver Island, the Coast and Gulf Islands. It is a venue for farmers, rural landowners, farm organizations, equipment dealers, service providers and the general public to learn, connect and engage. The Cowichan Valley Regional District is proud to be a community partner for this year’s event, which aims to promote agriculture and professional development for farmers in the region.
The show features two days of engaging conference sessions, a trade show with over 70 vendors, and Young Farmers Day where children and families learn about agriculture and farm operations. There will be food, tractor displays, demonstration booths and much more.
This year’s Keynote Speaker is Chris Koch. Despite being born without arms and legs, Koch is an avid traveler, marathoner, and farmer who inspires his audiences to continually challenge themselves and build the life they dream of. Other conference session topics include protecting your flock from avian influenza, cider apple management, institutional markets, and more. Presentations will be given on the latest agricultural research from University of British Columbia, Kwantlen Polytechnic University, University of Fraser Valley, and others.
Economic Development Cowichan will be hosting a Welcome Reception on July 6 at 4pm. Exhibitors, sponsors and delegates are invited to enjoy a sampling of local food prepared by Farm Table Inn, plus wines, craft beers and beverages, as local speakers welcome everyone to the Cowichan Valley.
Registration for the conference is now open. For more information, visit www.iashow.ca.
