The Coast Salish Development Corporation (CSDC) in partnership with MasterBUILT Hotels has officially opened the Microtel Inn & Suites in Oyster Bay, just north of Ladysmith. A celebratory grand opening reception was held on June 20, 2018 and included a tour of the newly developed property and a ribbon cutting ceremony to symbolize the beginning of an exciting new development.

CSDC is the Stz’uminus First Nations economic development arm. It is one of the leading First Nations in Canada in pursuing progressive and forward-thinking economic opportunities. The Microtel is the newest installment as part of a comprehensive Oyster Bay Area Masterplan, which includes significant commercial and residential development of the predominately forested 65-acre site.

The 81 room hotel features a combination of natural beauty and high-quality architecture combined with a state-of-the-art indoor pool and waterslide facility, games room and other family friendly amenities for guests to take advantage of. For those that are visiting for business, the hotel also includes a business center with meeting room space.

Economic Development Cowichan congratulates the Stz’uminus First Nations on the new Microtel and recognizes the important role the hotel will play in opening up new tourism and business opportunities. The overall development of Oyster Bay has been a shared success for the region and it is exciting to continue witnessing the plan become a reality!
