The Tourism Innovation Lab is calling for creative thinkers and local tourism trailblazers to showcase their best ideas for unique, sustainable, and innovative tourism experiences in our vibrant region.
This exciting program is a great opportunity to turn your tourism vision into reality. Whether you’re just starting out or are an established business looking to diversify, “Spark” provides the support you need to succeed. The program encompasses:
- A call out for new tourism ideas from individuals, small businesses, non-profits and community groups
- Application reviews by a jury including local, regional and provincial tourism leaders and innovators
- Virtual Finalists’ Pitch Session on December 11, 2024 (think a friendly tourism Dragon’s Den)
- Selection of 3 winning applicants
Winners will receive:
- $3,000 in seed funding to support tourism idea development activities.
- A 3-month mentorship with a tourism innovator, experienced operator, or industry leader tailored to your focus area.
- Connections to local tourism partners and networks.
- Ongoing support to help bring your idea to life.
The “Spark” program is looking for new tourism ideas that address one or more of the following:
- Enhance current Cowichan tourism offerings
- Create high-quality, low-impact tourism experiences
- Address gaps in tourism products and services
- Motivate longer stays and repeat visits
- Increase year-round visitation and tourism spending
- Encourage collaboration between tourism operators
